2014 LfS Teachers' Conference

Registrations for the 2014 Learning for Sustainability Conference are now OPEN!

The 2014 Learning for Sustainability Conference will inspire, inform and support all those in the Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Whitehorse and Yarra Ranges communities working towards more sustainable schools and pre-schools. The conference will bring together teachers, educators, administrators and community members to explore new pathways for embedding sustainability across the whole school.

The Conference will be held at Foothills Conference Centre, Mooroolbark on Tuesday 21st October between 8:30am - 3:30pm.

Building on the success of last years event, the 2014 Conference will give you the opportunity to:
• connect with local sustainability education resources,
• network with likeminded individuals,
• hear inspiring stories from schools and
• gain contacts and ideas to take back to your school
all while enjoying local food in a beautiful setting.

Our keynote speaker for 2014 is one of our own!  Thomas King lives in Yarra Ranges and is a year 12 student from Ringwood Secondary College who has a very bright future.  For the last four years, Thomas has worked with a range of environmental, animal rights and humanitarian focused organisations, including the Jane Goodall Institute, ATAAC (Australian Teens Against Animal Cruelty) and the youth division of United Nations. In this time he has received a number of accolades, including Youth Advocate of the Year in the inaugural Zoos Victoria Hall of Fame and Junior Green Hero at the inaugural Green Lifestyle Awards.

The Conference is subsidised by participating Councils, sponsors and trade stands and offers a great opportunity for you to connect with what’s happening in sustainability in schools (including pre-schools) in the Eastern Region and beyond.  We are delighted to welcome on board the Schools Water Efficiency Program (SWEP) as our 2014 Learning for Sustainability Conference sponsor.
