Macclesfield Primary School wins the Planet Ark National Tree Day 2012 Photo/Banner competition

The Macclesfield Primary School banner represents the environment surrounding our school which we want to extend into our grounds by planting habitat trees to share with all the native wildlife that lives close by. We hope we have created a "Friendship Forest" that children can explore, enjoy and study.

To make our banner, we used orange fabric and painted some symbols from The Lorax to make the link between this iconic story and our actions. It also shows the tree-covered hills and small ephemeral creek that border our fence-line and Nature Walk.

The planting day turned out to be very wet and muddy, which necessitated an indoor photo which embodies our whole school support for the day, including the ten class photo-trees that we have displayed in our Atrium area.

Despite the weather conditions, the children planted, bagged and staked 200 trees!
